Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the most popular type of massage in the United States. It involves the use of hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the superficial layers of the muscles to improve mental and physical health. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of the massage. The benefits of swedish massage include increased blood circulation, mental and physical relaxation, decreased stress and muscle tension, and improved range of motion.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is designed to relieve pain and muscle tension throughout the body. This type of massage is extremely beneficial because it reaches the deepest layer of muscles, fascia (connective tissue surrounding the joints) and tendons. The goal in deep tissue massage is to breakdown adhesions (tense areas within the muscle). Adhesions in the muscle are very important to address because they cause pain, inflammation and limit motion of the muscles and joints.

Walk The Back Massage-1.jpg

Walk The Back

Walking on back massage, also called ashiatsu massage, is a centuries-old massage technique originally performed by monks; today, this technique is becoming increasingly popular in America. This controlled deep tissue massage has many benefits.  If you’ve ever heard of Swedish massage, ashiatsu massage is somewhat like that – only much deeper and more penetrating than that performed by the hands. Because the body work done can be performed at a much deeper level than through traditional hand massage, clients can see benefits much more quickly than they otherwise might.

Chinese Tuina-2.jpg

Chinese Tuina

Chinese Tuina is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, t'ai chi, and qigong. Tui na is a hands-on body treatment that uses Chinese taoist principles in an effort to bring the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) into balance. Techniques may be gentle or quite firm. The name comes from two of the actions: tui means "to push" and na means "to lift and squeeze." Other strokes include shaking and tapotement.
